Two violent home invasions similar, unrelated

Authorities in Pueblo are investigating two violent home invasion cases that are apparently unrelated but very similar.  Both invasions involved a group of people entering a home and allegedly attacking the person living there.

Authorities say one man was shot in the arm in Pueblo and others ended up with stab wounds over in Pueblo West.  And in both cases, the victims also ended up charged with crimes.

Arrest warrants are being prepared for three young men who sheriff's deputies say attacked 19-year-old David Talbert in his Pueblo West apartment.  They say Talbert stabbed at least two of the suspects who ended up in the hospital.  After investigating further, deputies decided to arrest Talbert, too.  He's charged with burglary, auto theft and identity theft.

"The home invasions that we've had, in most cases, the people knew each other," Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Bureau Chief Charlene Graham said.

Pueblo Police say 35-year-old Andrew Holcomb was shot in the arm by a group of men who broke into his home, to steal marijuana and money. Holcomb was treated and released from the hospital and will now be charged with growing marijuana, which is a felony. Authorities say the similarity of the incidents is just coincidental, and is not part of a trend.

"I don't think people should be afraid in their homes," Graham said. "Those kinds of things are very, very rare."

If you have any tips on the suspects who robbed Andrew Holcomb over on Carteret, you're asked to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 542-7867.
