Final tally: 32 bison slaughtered

The Park County sheriff said hunters shot and killed 32 bison and left the carcasses strewn across a Southern Colorado ranch. Sheriff Fred Wegener said deputies are investigating whether the shootings are legal.
Wegener said a dozen hunters told investigators they had permission to kill the animals, and some had taken bison meat. The hunters were released after questioning.
Wegener's office will sort-out ownership of the animals, along with the location of the shootings. If, indeed, the bison were on a private ranch and the hunters had permission from the owners, the shootings are legal.
