Sex offender on the loose and may be committing more crimes

One of Southern Colorado's most wanted predators has a long rap sheet and may have committed another crime locally within just the past few weeks.
His name is Barry Lynn Carroll. He's not only been convicted of sex crimes against a child, he's also racked up more than 60 criminal cases in his life, mostly forgery and passing bogus checks.
One stolen credit card was apparently used at the end of February 2008 in Colorado Springs, at the Howard Johnson on South Nevada.
"My concerns were for the other guests, make sure they were safe," said Doti Donahoo, hotel Clerk.
Donahoo says Carroll was hanging out around South Nevada a few weeks ago and that's when he and the hotel owner got into a scuffle over the stolen credit card. Carroll eventually got the card and ran away before police arrived.
According an arrest warrant from Davie County, North Carolina, Carroll's sex assault victim was 13 years old. Carroll committed a lot of crimes in that state as well as Colorado and Oregon.
"He has limited transportation so we believe he is still in the Colorado Springs area," said Parole Supervisor Shaun McGuire.
He also says Carroll has violent tendencies and probably needs money, "he's known for soliciting money from people and from charitable organizations. Our information indicates that he is most likely not working, if he is working, he's either working under the table or using a different social security number."
Carroll apparently enjoys gambling with other people's money. In 2006 he was arrested in Cripple Creek for forgery -- trying to pass a bogus check.
He's also know to use aliases, including Jesus Carbajal, Pedro Gonzales and Alfredo Torrez.
He's been known to hang out in the hotels along South Nevada Avenue. Business owners and managers in that area are asked to watch for him.
He may also have a woman helping him. The clerk at Howard Johnson says the stolen credit card belonged to a woman, and Carroll had a female call the hotel and say he had permission to use the card.
