Safety of Colorado Springs water

Roughly eighty million gallons of water are treated daily in Colorado Springs.
After a recent Associated Press investigation focusing on medication in drinking water, some residents might wonder about the safety of their water. The AP detected drugs in the drinking water of 24 cities - including Denver.
Colorado Springs Utilities tests for more than twenty pollutants, but does not test for any type of medication. CSU officials say one of the challenges across the country is there are no standardized lab tests for pharmaceuticals.
Officials expect the EPA to eventually test for traces of medication, and expects Colorado Springs water to test well because 90% of local water comes from mountain snow-melt.
