A former Colorado Springs man was ordered to spend four years in prison for his role in the killing of a university student. Benjamin Gunvalsen, 27, pleaded guilty to
being an accessory to murder in the death of Patricia Ann Elliott. The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs student was beaten to death in 2001 at the age of 19. Elliott's mother asked for leniency for Gunvalsen -- saying he was the only one of the three suspects to show remorse and tell the truth.
His testimony helped secure a first-degree murder conviction last month against Christopher William Allen, 29. Gunvalsen is also expected to testify against Ryan James Krueger when he stands trial in April. Krueger and Allen are former Fort Carson soldiers.
