The state legislature will consider two proposed tax breaks this week, both for businesses.
Currently, businesses have to pay business personal property tax on everything from equipment like chairs and computers to inventory on their shelves. A proposal set for a hearing Tuesday would gradually increase the exemption to $7,000 on equipment or
inventory by 2011.
The other proposal would abandon the sales tax charged on purchases of airplanes by residents from out of state. Supporters say the proposal would help airplane makers already in Colorado and lure new ones to the state.
