It seems there's more to a job than a six figure salary. Three top execs at Memorial Hospital are leaving this year.

“We’re going through a transition here at Memorial Hospital in the last couple of months,” said Chris Valentine, the hospital’s spokesperson.

Chief Financial Officer Gary Flansburg announced he’s retiring in November. CEO Dick Eitel is retiring at the end of March. And just a few weeks ago, the Spring’s hospital lost its Chief Operating Officer, Gus Lee, after just six months. Lee said it wasn’t a good fit.

“It's interesting that all three executives, it hit at the same time,” said Valentine. ”There are different reasons and it's sheer coincidence that they happened at the same time.”

Valentine says this isn't a sign the hospital's in any trouble.

“Memorial's doing very well,” he said. “Financially we're doing great. We opened Memorial Hospital north which is doing wonderfully and the East Tower so the health system is growing.”

Larry McEvoy has been named interim CEO for the next 6 to 9 months while the search committee looks for a permanent replacement.

The CEO at Penrose St. Francis, Rick O’Connell, also announced he's leaving, and so did, Harley Smith, CEO at the new hospital in Woodland Park.
