"Notification Letter….. Read Carefully and Get Back To Me." That's the subject line of a new email landing in local inboxes. Ignore it. The 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office, which covers El Paso County and Teller Counties, calls it an email scam from Nigeria.
The email demands money, or the recipient will be killed. It claims that someone has paid the sender to kill the recipient, then demands money to spare that person's life. It goes on to say that if police are notified, the recipient's family will be killed.
The FBI has confirmed that the email is a Nigerian scam. If you receive it, file a complaint with the FBI. These complaints assist the FBI in tracking these types of scams.
