A Colorado Springs golfer is featured on a new reality show on the Golf Channel called Highway 18. It resembled the Amazing Race meets golf.
Teams race through more than 1,000 miles of Florida's highways, and fairways, in a golf race challenge.
Ashley Davis, 24, grew up in Toronto. She does fundraising for the U.S. Olympic Committee and plays golf at the Kissing Camels Golf Course in Colorado Springs. In April she dropped everything for the two week competition in Florida. "Everyday was go, go," said David. "From 4 a.m. until about ten at night."
Her childhood best friend, also named Ashley, is her partner in the show. They want you to believe they are ditsy blondes, but their golf game is no joke. Davis started golfing at 17. "I was always a range rat. And someone said to me, you need to go and practice your short game. So that's what I did. I just quit the range and practiced my short game. And that's where I really improved."
She golfed in college for Old Dominion University and it became her passion. Now she's a scratch golfer.
Despite the coordinated outfits Ashley and Ashley wear on the show, she is one serious competitor.
Of course we don't know how the show turns out. It runs the next 10 weeks on the Golf Channel.
