Dozens of Springs police officers will head to Denver in August. They’re helping with security at the Democratic National Convention.
The 58 officers will be paid through a federal grant, not by the city, and will help patrol areas around the Pepsi Center and assist with crowd control.
The C.S.P.D. says they will be fully staffed locally that week.“On any given day we have 50 or 60 officers that are off duty, just as a part of their regular routine in the patrol so it won't degrade our patrol officers at all,” said Lt. David Whitlock, Public Affairs Section, Colorado Springs Police Department.
The Democratic National Convention is happening from Aug. 23 – 29.
