There's a feeling of anticipation in the air at the Broadmoor. Just look around and you can tell. Platforms are sprouting up on the green, the scoreboard got lengthened.
"There's a lot of excitement from all different angles right now," said Championship Director Douglas Hapgood.
Over the coming days, more than 3,000 volunteers will make their way to Colorado Springs. They're coming from every state in the country and the District of Columbia, something the organizers say is unprecedented.
"It's the first time the US Senior open has accomplished that," said Hapgood.
The volunteers are an integral part of the competition. They'll be doing everything from security to scoring.
The 2008 U.S. Senior Open will "tee-off" on July 28th. It's expected to reach a world-wide audience, broadcast to 50 different countries. Already ticket purchases are coming in from 41 different states, Canada and Scotland.
