The host committee for the Democratic National Convention is facing a shortfall of $15 million. The committee is under contract with the Democratic National Committee to raise $40.6 million by midnight tonight to finance the event.
Last month, the host committee said it had just $25 million in cash, and it has failed to meet most of its previous fundraising deadlines. A shortfall would complicate logistics for the convention, scheduled August 25 - 28.
The cash problem has already has forced the host committee to cancel 24 welcoming parties and to postpone a media walkthrough of the site scheduled for this week.
