Colorado Foreclosure Prevention Hotline gets thousands of calls

A new report shows that 8,300 residents trying to save their homes have phoned the Colorado Foreclosure Hotline since January. The Colorado Foreclosure Prevention Task Force data also shows the hot line received about 26,000 calls from its start in October 2006 to December 2007.
During 2007, 1 in 254 homeowners faced foreclosure in El Paso County while the number was 1 in 152 in Pueblo County. In Douglas County, foreclosures declined in 2007.
The hotline is a public-private partnership aimed at helping homeowners deal with foreclosure. It is staffed by 26 nonprofit housing agencies. It is free to homeowners.
