Southbound I-25 in Colorado Springs is back open at Garden of the Gods Road. It was closed for several hours Wednesday afternoon because of a head-on collision. The Colorado Springs Police Department reports that a van was headed northbound in the southbound lanes, causing the accident that involved five cars. Seven people were injured, two critically. That number is updated, earlier police reported that eight people had been hurt. The victims were transported to Penrose Main Hospital. One person was treated at the scene.
Frank White, the driver of the van, is in critical but stable condition. He faces charges of vehicular assault based on reckless driving. Police are still investigating the accident.
