Colorado snowpack: Too much?

Skiers and snowboarders can attest it's been a banner year so far for snowfall in Colorado. Good for winter recreation, and also for the water supply through the rest or the year.
“It’s been an excellent year so far,” said Leon Kot, Natural Resources Conservationist. Snow is measured to make sure there's enough water, and this year with so much snow, they also warn of potential issues. There could be problems if all that water comes down too fast. Kot said, “An early melt-off and getting all the moisture coming down at once, both high elevation and low elevation, would be the worst case scenario." That could lead to overflowing streams and rivers.
The statewide snowpack is 126% of normal. The South Platte water basin which starts just west of Teller County is at 109%. The highest number in the state is 160% in the Arkansas River Basin.
