Mountain lions in Manitou Springs

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is investigating two recent mountain lion sightings in Manitou Springs. In both cases the cats did not act aggressively or abnormally.
Town leaders are putting up signs warning residents of the sightings. Wildlife experts say with the abundance of deer, the mountain lion population continues to grow in this region.
Although attacks are extremely rare, experts remind residents to use common sense when outdoors. Cougars are opportunistic and will visit yards where scraps or garbage are abundant.
If a cat approaches, experts say to back away slowly, avoid eye contact and never run.
