The Royal Gorge Park near Canon City took in record profits last year. As a result,
the park made its biggest payment ever to the city. "The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is a concessionaire for the city of Canon City and we gave them a record payment of $1.6 million," said Peggy Gair, Public Relations Manager for the Royal Gorge. That payments was a $200,000 boost from 2006.
Gair said that last summer's high gas prices resulted in more in-state tourism, from places like Colorado Springs and Denver.
