A grassy area in southwestern Colorado Springs caught fire this afternoon. Emergency crews responded to the call just after noon. It burned about an acre of privately owned land near Cheyenne Boulevard and Cresta Road.
Lt. Barry Madison, of the Colorado Springs Fire Department said, "The report was 3 to 4 foot flame lengths and light flashy fuels and the wind had died down so it wasn't spreading fast at the time."
Fire crews say there wasn't much damage. They're still investigating the cause, but say it's a popular place for kids to play.
