Voting machines de-certified

The state has a voting machine problem. Machines in some of Colorado's largest counties have been de-certified. And with the primary only eight months away, counties are scrambling to fix the problem. Today county clerks from around the state met with lawmakers and the Secretary of State. They have lots of questions and need answers fast.

After  testing Colorado's electronic voting equipment, the Secretary of State's office found hundreds of the machines aren't secure. Others aren't accurate.  Testifying before lawmakers, Mike Coffman tried to sound hopeful.
"We can move forward in a positive way that doesn't compromise the integrity of the elections."
Coffman had harsh words for voting machine manufacturers. He says they did their best to delay the testing and tried to force the state to accept the machines as they are.
"My respect is not very high at this time."
Lawmakers and county clerks have plenty to be concerned about. Seventy-five percent of the state's population  is affected by the decertification. Right now there are many more questions than answers.
County clerks will meet with the Secretary of State and manufacturers tomorrow and try to come up with solutions.
