El Paso County foreclosures soar 48 percent this year

There were 16 percent more foreclosure filings in Colorado during the first half of 2008 than during the same period last year, according to a report released Wednesday by the Colorado Division of Housing. El Paso County was especially hard-hit, with a 48 percent increase. Pueblo filings dropped 4 percent.
The actual numbers: 2,531 foreclosure filings in El Paso County and 715 in Pueblo County.
Statewide, there were 22,500 foreclosure filings in the first half of the year. That's up from 19,460 last year.
