Ski and snowboard recycling in Colorado Springs

If you ask people around the country what comes to mind when they think of Colorado, our mountains and skiing usually top the list.
But when it comes to skiing and snowboarding, what can ecologically-minded residents do with old equipment. Selling it or trading it in on new stuff tops the list. But if your gear is trashed, there's been no option except the trash--until now.
Colorado Ski and Golf is kicking off a ski and snowboard recycling program. Equipment in good condition will go to charitable programs. Equipment in bad condition will be shredded and reused.
" What we're going to try and do is some product will be ground up and be able to use and make some decking and other composite materials that may be useful as opposed to filling landfills," said John Buell, store manager.
To fund the program, the shop is adding a $5 recycling fee to the sale of new equipment.
