A consulting firm says Colorado Springs Airport will have almost 16 percent fewer seats on arriving and departing flights this November compared with a year earlier, as airlines trim flight schedules.
That translates to an estimated 1,154 fewer seats a day, according to an analysis by LECG LLC. The average reduction among the nation's top 100 airports is 9.5 percent.
City aviation director Mark Earle says contingency plans were developed to deal with capacity reductions. The airport raised its rent and fees last month by 3.9 percent to $8.52 per passenger. Airport officials have delayed filling some openings and purchasing some vehicles and equipment.
