A section of Denver's busiest north-south freeway will be shut down the night Barack Obama gives his acceptance speech because it runs near the football stadium where he will appear.
The 5.5 mile section of Interstate 25 will close at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 and remain shut down until the night's events are over. I-25 passes within a few hundred feet of Invesco Field at Mile High, where the Denver Broncos play.
Obama's speech will be on the last night of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, which starts Aug. 25. Most of the convention will be held at the Pepsi Center, which seats 21,000, but the acceptance speech was moved to the football stadium, which seats up to 76,000.
The Colorado Department of Transportation has mapped out alternate routes.
