A mother accused of killing her three children by burning down her home for insurance money has told the judge she won't take the stand in her defense.
Deborah Nicholls is on trial in Colorado Springs on murder, child abuse and other charges. She could face life in prison if convicted.
The fire killed 11-year-old Jay, 5-year-old Sophia and 3-year-old Sierra Nicholls. Nicholls' husband, Timothy Nicholls, was convicted last year of felony murder and is serving life without parole.
Prosecutors say the couple hoped insurance payments would get them out of financial problems caused by drug use. Deborah Nicholls' father, Douglas Baumgardner, testified Friday
the couple had no life insurance for the children and the funerals were paid for by donations.
The couple did have insurance on their home.
