We're just about a month away from the official start of winter, but Tuesday was warm enough to make it into the record books.
Colorado Springs reached 76 degrees, breaking the old record high on this day of 73 degrees set back in 1942. Pueblo got up to 77 degrees, breaking their record high for the day of 76 degrees set in 1995.
Leaves have shriveled up and died, what was green has turned brown, and the calendar says November--but for some it feels more like the dogs days of summer. "I think it's crazy in the end of November it should be snowing," said Jennifer Prince, a Pueblo resident.
Instead it was T-shirts and shorts weather. After a few rounds of fetch at City Park, some pets and their owners sought relief in the shade.
"It's unbelievable," said Ron Vaught, a golfer. "Why go south when you've got this," he added.
Our First Alert team forecasted temperatures for Colorado Springs and Pueblo to be twenty to thirty degrees warmer than average Tuesday. Perfect for hitting the links. "Most of the eastern half of the state is going to be much warmer than places like Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa," said Craig Eliot, First Alert meteorologist.
Forecasters say this warm weather is unusual, but not unheard of. "And as odd as it seems to think well gosh it's going to be in the 80s today in Pueblo, It's really not that unusual because a year ago Wednesday it was 82 in Pueblo for a record high," said Eliot.
