From coast-to-coast people are protesting the same-sex marriage ban that passed in California. Simultaneous protests took place in hundreds of cities across the nation at 11:30am Saturday.
"We are angry, sad, and hurt," said Kristina Conner, who protested with a group of roughly 100 at City Hall in Colorado Springs.
Proposition 8, which overturned a California Supreme Court ruling allowing same-sex couples to marry, was approved by voters in the state on Nov. 4th.
In Colorado Saturday there were a total of six formal protests. They happened in Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, Durango and Aspen.
"We want to take these emotions and use them as a positive driving force for our future so we too can have a unity and equality for our love," said Conner.
