A meteor appeared in the sky almost directly over Colorado Springs Tuesday evening, streaked across the Rockies and disappeared near Cedaredge, east of Grand Junction. The intense ball of fire was visible from Casper, Wyoming to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Cloudbait Observatory snapped two photos of the meteor, from cameras in Guffey and at Douglas County High School. Chris Peterson of Cloudbait Observatory calculates that the meteor traveled 170 miles, at a speed of 76,000 mph.
