A Colorado psychologist with a multi-million dollar parenting program was in Green Mountain Falls on Tuesday night. Speaking to a few dozen parents, teachers and staff members, Dr. Charles Fay kept his tips simple and fun.
He says the principle behind "Love and Logic" is that parents can be strict and loving at the same time. Fay adds, "most successful parents are not afraid to set limits and hold kids accountable."
He says the most common mistake parents make is "talking too much." He says parents should talk less and act more often to convince children that there are "loving, logical consequences."
Charles Fay spoke at a fund-raiser benefitting Childrens ARK resource center. The center uses "Love and Logic" in its treatment program.
