Snow keeps some campgrounds closed

Plenty of Colorado families are planning camping trips this summer to cut down on the cost of travel. But before you load the camping gear into the car--make sure your campground is open. A heavy snowpack has delayed some openings in the state.
Some popular sites in the Pike and San Isabel National Forests are already open, but campgrounds at higher elevations remain closed. Blue and Bear Lake, Kenosha and Hall Valley will be delayed, but should be available for the Memorial Day weekend. In Lake County, the recreation facilities at Turquoise Lake may not be open for the Memorial Day weekend. In Chaffee County, Monarch Campground will not be available until mid-June.
Check with the National Recreation Reservation Service to find out if the campground where you've made a reservation will open as scheduled.
