Ft. Carson soldier vying for 'America's Favorite Mother'

It's often said no Mother's Day gift can match the gifts moms give everyday. Adam Gintilis says his wife proves that adage.
"She's tremendous," Gintilis said.
Staff Seargent Melinda Gintilis of Ft. Carson is serving her second tour in Iraq. It's not her first battle either. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 24.
"It was real sad for me," Adam said.
Having her in Iraq has been a battle in itself, the family says. "I really miss her. I love her. I want her to come home," said 7 year-old Adrian Gintilis.
Adam says he's determined to give her a big thanks this Mother's Day. He nominated her for the NBC show "America's Favorite Mom". Thousands of mom's were nominated and now Melinda is a finalist. If she gets enough votes from viewers she could win thousands of dollars, which the family says a large part of will go to charity.
"I just want her to feel like there's a community behind her and now it's not just our town and not just her family, but all of America," said Adam.
