The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has a "wild" new attraction. The new Rocky Mountain Wild exhibit is up and running and members got the first peak this weekend.
Rocky Mountain Wild is an $8.2 million natural exhibit showcasing animals commonly found in the North American Rocky Mountains. Being on a mountain side, Zoo officials say it keeps the animals in an environment totally natural to them.
Grizzly bears, mountain lions, and moose are all on display. The Zoo says they want people to learn about the creatures commonly found in their backyards. "[The animals are] basically ambassadors for their relatives that are still in the wild," said Sean Anglum of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. "They're able to tell a story so that we can gain a further appreciation."
The Rocky Mountain Wild exhibit opens to the public Friday, May 2nd.
