Over the last few weeks, the Colorado Springs Police Department has received numerous calls regarding a suspicious male who has been approaching people in their homes, throughout the city, and asking for money.

The male is described as a white male, in his early 40's, 6 ft, and approximately 190 lbs. He has been seen driving a dark colored pickup truck.

The suspicious male has given different stories about needing money and asks the residents for their help after telling them that he lives in their neighborhood and promises to pay the money back.

In most cases, the scam usually involves a story about his vehicle needing repairs or that his vehicle has broken down and he needs to have it towed home.  The male indicates that he is $17.00 short and asks for cash so he can pay the bill.

In a few instances, the male has written the resident a check or given them a credit card number in exchange for the cash. The checking account and the credit card account have been found to be good, but they do not have any funds in the accounts to draw from.

Residents are being asked to report any incidents where they have been contacted by a suspicious male asking for money.
