In an effort to combat the on-going problem of sexually transmitted diseases, there's a free testing clinic in Pueblo. Glendale 4 is an HIV outreach center in Pueblo.
Workers there say there's been a rise in HIV cases in Pueblo County by more than 10% in the past year.
The organization says there has also been an increase in the number of cases of Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis and Hepatitis C. Health workers urge anyone who's sexually active, to be tested every six months.
"We've seen a rise in all STDs in general in all ages population, but particularly in girls ages 14 to 19," said Jolene Hausman, with Glendale 4.
"STD's are all preventable that's the great news, and a number of them are even curable, but what has to happen is that individuals must get tested," said Kirsten Taylor, with the Pueblo City-County Health Department.
The STD testing clinic is Friday July 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 731 E. 4th St. in Pueblo.
No appointment is necessary. The testing is free and confidential.
