The state's snowpack is building to its biggest level in more than a decade, as snow keeps piling up in Colorado's mountains. Statewide, the snowpack is 132 percent of average. It's even deeper in southern Colorado where the snowpack is 165 to 170 percent of normal.

The snowpack is the source of 80 percent of the state's water supply. Snow-survey supervisor Mike Gillespie of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service says the current conditions are the best in the state since 1997. The snowpack percentage is measured against the 30 year average.
