A small fire on an American Airlines jetliner with more than 100 people aboard, forced the place to land in Grand Junction Wednesday night. No one was injured.
Flight 119 was en route from Newark to Los Angeles when passengers reported a haze in the plane and a bad smell. The Boeing 757 touched down at Grand Junction Regional Airport at 10:15 p.m. Passengers and crew members were evacuated with the help of the Grand Junction police and fire departments and airport officials. Fire officials used thermal imaging equipment to try to find the source of the problem, a small fire in the back of the plane.
Another plane was sent to Grand Junction to take the passengers to Los Angeles.
