Sen. Barack Obama has officially been named the democratic candidate for President of the United States at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
A roll-call was begun, with Colorado casting 55 votes for Obama and 15 for Sen. Hillary Clinton. Sen. Clinton made a motion that the roll-call be suspended, and Sen. Obama be nominated by acclamation. A huge cheer went up at the Pepsi Center, and a voice vote made Obama the nominee.
Obama will accept the nomination in a speech at Invesco Field at Mile High Thursday night. He arrived at Denver International Airport late Wednesday afternoon.
