Don't buy Obama tickets online

About 80,0000 Coloradans requested tickets to see Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention. But there are only 75,000 seats, so demand for the tickets is high. That means prices for the tickets were fetching high prices on the internet. But if you bought one, they probably won't do you much good.

Loud music blaring inside Barack Obama's Colorado Springs headquarters is fitting for a candidate, who's been both praised and criticized for his rock star status.

"This is your personal pass, all star credential," one campaign worker said, while passing over a ticket to Obama's acceptance speech.

The people who have their tickets are holding on to them tightly; unless they're trying to sell them on the internet. There were postings on Craig's List and Viagogo. Those tickets have since been taken down. Campaign officials say they're now working with those sites to make sure tickets aren't posted anymore. Plus, anything advertised on line will be deactivated by the Democratic National Committee, and every ticket's being tracked, with a bar code.

"If you head over there, you can confirm your pass," the campaign staffer said to another couple.

With new restrictions in place, the 30-thousand Coloradans who do have tickets will just have to use them and enjoy the historic event, instead of turning them for a profit. And for at least one person, it shouldn't be that difficult.

"I called my family to tell them I'm going to be there, and they were like, we're going to be looking for you, haha," Deborah Thompson, an Obama supporter said. "Go Obama!"

Most of the people who picked up their tickets in the Springs this weekend, had either volunteered or donated money to the Obama campaign. His acceptance speech is scheduled for August 28th in Denver.

And just a reminder, the Colorado Department of Transportation says a 5 1/2 mile stretch of I-25 will be closed for several hours that night.
