A family fishing trip turned into quite the adventure for a Pueblo family last week. A black bear invaded their space and ate some of their food.
Cyndi Castro and her family were fishing near La Veta, when they spotted the bear. Castro says the bear scared them away, and got into their food. He ate some sunflower seeds, drank some pop and eventually found some fish to snack on.
Castro says she's never seen a bear in the wild before. "It was pretty scary and my kids were with me, and we had a couple other small children, and they were scared," said Castro. "They (children) were already in the truck and they were scared. They were terrified," she added.
Castro says she was scared too, but she managed to stay calm enough to video tape the bear eating her food.
Officials with the Colorado Division of Wildlife say bear sightings are on the rise this year, because their food supply has been low this summer.
