When the 2008 U.S. Senior Open comes to the Broadmoor Hotel in July, all eyes from across the globe will be on Colorado Springs. And that's what local businesses say they are hoping to cash in on.
The U.S. Senior Open comes to the Broadmoor Hotel the end of July, but preparations are in full swing. Judd Bryarly is the Vice President of Timberline Landscaping. The company will landscape for the open. "It's a very big job for us. It's a fun job that we've been working on for a little over a year now."
100 employees are growing almost 5-thousand shrubs that will be planted around the course and hotel. Bryarly says, "It's going to enable us the opportunity to get our name exposed a little more out there. Especially in our hard economic times that we're having right now."
The price tag for the project is 75-thousand dollars. Timberline is one of about 40 local vendors that is hoping the international exposure they'll get through the open will bring a big payoff. "Even though it's about mid range for what we normally do. It has a lot more significance because of the exposure, because of our involvement in what we've been able to produce with it."
When the Broadmoor is seen around the world so will the hard work of local businesses. Bryarly says, "The pressure is on for us to show through. I think we'll do just fine with it."
Tickets are still on sale, but going fast.
