A home in Security was severely damaged in a fire Sunday afternoon. Firefighters are pointing to a grill for the cause. They say the propane hose came loose and sprayed flames on to the house.
It happened just before noon at 148 Esther Dr. and took over 30 minutes to put out. Everyone inside the home escaped without injury no firefighters were injured.
Witnesses tell News First they heard a loud booming noise and then noticed heavy smoke and flames coming from behind the home. By the time help arrived the entire back end was fully engulfed. A shed behind the house also caught fire.
The fire spread to the kitchen but firefighters were able to stop the rest of the house from burning, though there is significant smoke damage throughout the home. The family will not be able to get back in until it is cleaned up, according to the Security Fire Department.
