Southwest Airlines is adding five non-stop flights and three destinations from Denver. The Dallas-based, low-cost carrier said it will add non-stop flights to Sacramento, Fort Lauderdale, and New Orleans.
Southwest will also add an additional daily non-stop to Phoenix, for a total of seven. The airline now has 61 daily non-stops from Denver, up from the 13 it offered when it resumed service in the city in January 2006.
Its latest expansion comes less than a month after Denver-based Frontier Airlines sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Frontier said its principal credit card processor had planned to begin withholding more proceeds from ticket sales.
