Rescue crews with the Colorado Springs Fire Department were called to two different rescues in two different parks within an hour and a half of each other.

A teenager scrambling on the rocks at Garden of the Gods is now in the hospital after falling.   Crews say the 17-year-old was between 20 to 60 feet above the ground when he slipped in an out-of the-way area in the southeast corner of the park. They say  he likely suffered a broken leg.

He did not have any climbing gear on him, wasn't wearing a helmet and didn't have a permit. It's illegal to climb above 10 feet in garden of the gods without a permit.

Just before that, the Colorado Springs Fire Department was called out for a high angle rescue near Ute Valley Park.

The call came in at 2:08 p.m.  Officials said a 9-year-old boy was hiking behind 1436 Territory Trail when he fell seven or eight feet.  The boy injured his hip and knee and could not get himself down.  Four units with the CSFD repelled from above him and pulled him up to an ambulance that was waiting for him.

The boy was taken to the hospital but is expected to be fine.
