Tigers get defending champs; Air Force travels to Worcester for NCAA Hockey Tourney

The Colorado College hockey team will open the NCAA Tournament Friday night against defending champion Michigan State in the opening round of the East Regional at the Colorado Springs World Arena. The Air Force Falcons open against Miami of Ohio in the opening round of the Northeast Regional in Worcester, Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon.
The 16-team NCAA field was announced Sunday morning. After losing two games in the WCHA Final Five over the weekend the Tigers dropped from a one seed to a two seed. Still CC will serve as the host team in the West regional which also includes top seeded New Hampshire, third seeded MichiganState and fourth seeded Notre Dame.
Notre Dame and New Hampshire will kick off the action on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at the World Arena. The CC – Michigan State game follows at 8:00 p.m. The winners play in the regional championship game Saturday at 10:00 p.m. The winner of that game advances to the Frozen Four in Denver on April 10.
As of Sunday afternoon less than 600 tickets were available for the West Regional games. Tickets can be purchased from Colorado College or the World Arena box office.
Air Force, which was hoping to be seeded at the World Arena, will face top seeded Miami of Ohio at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Boston College – Minnesota game on Sunday.
