The Air Academy baseball team has been coming back all season long. The Kadets did it again Friday afternoon in a 5A Final-Four state playoff game at All-City Field in Denver.
Air Academy and Chatfield went to extra innings in a see-saw game that saw both teams take the lead. Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth, Air Academy's Greg Volz singled with the bases loading scoring two and keeping the Kadets alive in the state tournament.
Air Academy will play Rocky Mountain at noon on Saturday in Denver. Rocky Mountain is undefeated in the double-elimination state tournament while Air Academy has lost one game. That means the Kadets must beat Rocky Mountain twice on Saturday to win the state championship.
