Men's basketball: AFA rolls past Norfolk State

Anwar Johnson scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures as Air Force rolled past Norfolk State, 75-52, Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game at Clune Arena. Air Force snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory and improved to 4-2 overall. NorfolkState fell to 1-3.

The Falcons opened the second half by hitting six of their first seven field goals in a 15-4 run to take its biggest lead of the game, 53-24, with 14:24 remaining and were never challenged after that. Air Force went on to lead by as many as 30 points, 66-36, with 6:39 left in the game. NorfolkState never got closer than 20 points at any point in the second half.
 
Air Force hit a season-high 51.1 percent from the field on 24-of-47 shooting. The Falcons made a season-best 11 three-points and hit a season-best 55 percent from beyond on the arc on 11-20 shooting. Air Force also out-rebounded NorfolkState, 37-25.
 
Johnson hit four of six field goals and all nine free throws and added six rebounds and three assists as he led the Falcons in scoring for the second straight game and third time this season. Matt Holland added 15 points on six-of-nine shooting, hitting double figures for the fourth straight game.  Andrew Henke added 14 points and a season-high seven rebounds while Evan Washington chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.
 
NorfolkState was led by Michael DeLoach, who scored 16 points and was the only Spartan in double figures. NorfolkState was held to just 39.3 percent shooting, including a three for 22 mark (13.6 percent) from three-point range.
 
The Falcons host Northern Illinois on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
