Avs open season against Bruins

DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Avalanche will open their 13th season in Denver by hosting the Boston Bruins on at the Pepsi Center on October 9.
Highlights of the Avs' schedule released Thursday include a visit by Sydney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on January 10th, and an eight-game homestand from January 16th to February 5th – the second longest in Avalanche history.
The NHL's adjusted schedule has the Avalanche facing each of the Eastern Conference teams at least once. The Avs' home slate features all five Northeast Division teams, including Montreal and Toronto.
The Avs have a six-game road trip from February 20th to March 2nd.
They open their six-game exhibition schedule against Los Angeles on September 24th at the PepsiCenter.
