The Summer Olympic Games in Beijing may be over the celebration isn’t.
The ladies from the silver medal winning USA volleyball team arrived back home in Colorado Springs Monday night. Hundreds of local fans and family members showed up to welcome them back from Beijing. Although tired from the long flight, the team members were more than willing to sign autographs and take pictures with their fans.
The USA women were one of the surprise stories of the Summer Games. Not expected to medal, they enjoyed a Cinderella run all the way to the gold medal game against Brazil. Brazil may have won the gold but it’s obvious the team is very proud of their silver medals.
Outside hitter Tayyiba Haneef-Park told News Firs, “It's indescribable. It's amazing. It's a lot better than 2004 as you can imagine. Just coming home with a medal around our neck is a pretty amazing achievement."
The USA women’s volleyball team lives and trains most of the year at the Olympic Training Complex in Colorado Springs.
