Over 500 lucky kids in Pueblo West got quite a treat Wednesday.
CU head football coach Dan Hawkins is doing a "Hawk Talk Tour" and his first stop was Wednesday at Pueblo West's Sierra Vista Elementary to give the young students an encouraging message about staying healthy.
Hawkins talked not only about staying fit and eating healthy, but also about keeping the mind active.
Hawkins told News First, it's more than just the on-the field success that makes a university successful.
“I think it's a great opportunity for the university to get out and outreach to the entire state and I think we stand for a lot more than wins and losses,” said Hawkins. “I think any time you can come and hopefully impact some kids, it's always a rewarding experience.”
CU opens its season August 31 against ColoradoState.On Wednesday the game was officially moved from Saturday the 30th to Sunday the 31st.
