It's final: CSPD will ground helicopter

As Colorado Springs Police responded full-force to Sunday's shooting at New Life Church, the department's helicopter swooped overhead. From a bird's eye-view, officers could see if any suspects were escaping and could coordinate the multi-agency response. Next year, the department's helicopter will be grounded.
The Colorado Springs City Council took a final vote Tuesday night on the 2008 budget. CSPD was hit with a $1 million budget cut. To help make ends meet, the department will ground its only helicopter.
The council blames falling sales tax revenues for the budget cut.
